Donate via Amazon Smile Program
Shopping through Amazon enables contributing to your Chinmaya Mission centre with just a small modification in the buying process.
AmazonSmile is a program that allows Amazon shoppers to support their favourite cause by donating a portion of the purchase price to the selected organization; this process does not add any extra cost and shoppers get the same prices and selection as they would otherwise.
If all members of the Chinmaya Mission family (and their extended family members) take advantage of this program, then that can generate significant funds for the mission. Please see the following sections on how to enrol and contribute to this effort.
One-time enrollment process
As a registered 501-c (3) entity, Chinmaya Mission New York (CMNY) is available in the list of organizations that the AmazonSmile program supports. Individuals will have to select and save this organization as their designated charity in the program; this is a one-time process that individuals need to complete before it can take effect. Individuals will have to visit the program site (https://smile.amazon.com), log into their account, search for CMNY and save the organization as their designated charity. Please refer to the highlighted section on the left side of the screenshot below that shows an example of how the selected organization will appear once this process is completed correctly.
Ongoing Shopping process
After enrollment, the only modification that is needed while shopping is to start the process from the designated starting page (https://smile.amazon.com) versus the regular (https://amazon.com). From thereon, the shopping and ordering process is exactly the same as shoppers are accustomed to. The site will also show updated information on an ongoing basis of how much money has been donated to the designated charity through completed purchases (see example below)
